Create some sort of graphic. Design the overall graphic to convey some sort of feeling or theme, but then have text saying something completely contradictory to the theme or feeling. Sort of like one of those old anti-motivational posters, but with more design than a black box with a white frame.

This was my first design assignment of the week. It was called contradiction creation and the goal was to create a graphic and then add text that was completely opposite to the theme. I used Canva, which was a site I had used in the past. I chose part of a quote about life: “life is full of twists and turns”. It gives me a similar feeling to the idea that life throws many surprises and challenges at you. It typically appears as a motivational quote implying you will overcome all of the bad things. I thought the perfect way to contradict it would be a straight road. The word “straight” is the opposite of “twists and turns” where you would expect a windy road to depict it if you were to use a road analogy. In addition, I used a cursive font for the constant curves and flow of the words as opposed to block letters.
