muffled music
This media assignment has two parts. First, edit a song to sound like it is playing from another room. The audio should sound muffled and the bass should be prominent. Here is an example of this effect and here is a tutorial on how to do this. The second part of this assignment is to write a weirdly specific description of your song.
“You just went inside during a pool party in July. You needed a towel and now the air-conditioning has given you goosebumps. The music is blaring over the speaker outside and everyone is swimming because it’s too hot to do anything else. Life is good.”
This was definitely my favorite assignment of the week. I first selected a song from Spotify that I thought would have good bass if you were listening from another room. I ended up choosing “Runaway (U & I) ” by Galantis. Then I used the app Audacity to edit it. By this time I had used the app twice before so it was pretty easy to do. I turned the bass up and the treble down and made the song muffled. Only a few quick steps. I uploaded the edited song to Soundcloud and embedded it here. The last thing I had to do was think of a specific description. I hear this song a lot over the summer so I thought a pool party would be fitting. From there all I had to do was add some details about what someone experiences at one and my assignment was finished.
It really sounds like it’s playing really far away or through a wall! Great job!
This is really good! It kind of sounds like you are in the bathroom at a party and you can hear the party going on outside.
This was super cool! I’ve always liked the edits of hearing music from a different room.
